Day to Day Itinerary
October 14, 2017
Once arrived at Malpensa Airport, clear entry formalities and proceed to the arrivals hall where your driver will be waiting for you holding a sign with your name written on it. You will then transfer to the Relais Villa d’Amelia where you will stay 7 nights. Check-into your room and take your time to relax and settle in.

After breakfast you will head to Barolo and visit the cozy town located in an ornate hollow of hills covered in vineyards and dominated by the majestic image of Faletti Castle, dating to the 10th century and site of the regional wine shop of Barolo. Here you will visit the peculiar Corkscrew Museum and then enjoy a tour of the Marchesi di Barolo winery, you will see the wine cellars where, in the heart of the Langhe area and protected by gentle hills, Barolo wine was born. In these historic cellars, located in a building overlooking the Castle, the work that began more than two centuries ago, continues the production of high quality wines, combining modernity, tradition and a great heritage of vineyards passed down from parents to children for over five generations. Here you will learn the history of this prestigious wine and enjoy a special tasting. Then enjoy a light lunch with some of the best products of this wonderful region.
After lunch you will relax during a panoramic tour through the hills full of vineyards surrounding Barolo… head towards the villages of Monforte d’Alba, La Morra and admire the beautiful landscape of these hills that are Unesco World Heritage sites. You will then continue your day with a brief introductory walking tour of Alba.
Optional Dinner: This evening, we have a reservation at the Restaurant Piazza Duomo at 7:30pm. This restaurant was just named one of Conde Nast’s 50 Best Restaurants in the World for 2016. Cost of dinner to be paid at restaurant.
Transfer back to the accommodation after dinner. (Breakfast, Lunch included.)

Be ready to listen to anecdotes and stories related to the First Capital City of the United Kingdom of Italy during this full day excursion to Turin. This charming and vibrant city will surprise you at every corner… You will start with a panoramic tour by van towards the hills surrounding the city for the best views and photos shots…
Then you will cross and admire the beautiful squares like Piazza Castello with the Royal Palace, Piazza San Carlo known as Turin’s salon with all its historic cafés… During this walking tour you will have the chance to taste the famous “bicerin”, a traditional hot drink native to Turin, Italy, made of espresso, drinking chocolate and whole milk served layered in a small rounded glass.
In the afternoon you will have some hours at leisure in downtown Turin to do some shopping before heading back to the accommodation for the rest of the day on your own before heading back to our hotel for the evening.

Today you will explore the Monferrato area, you will first head to the charming medieval town of Asti where you will enjoy a guided tour of the historical center, with its beautiful Cathedral and towers. During this walking tour you will learn more about the Palio of Asti, the famous horse race dating back to 1275 that is even older than the one in Siena…
After the tour, you will have some time at leisure to enjoy lunch on your own in the town before transferring back to your hotel.

You will first head to the trifulau (truffle searcher’s) house where you will receive an introduction to truffles before starting your walk in the woods together with the trifulau urging his inseparable dog to search. After the truffle hunting experience, you will be rewarded by a light lunch accompanied by local wines.
The day will continue with a cooking class followed by dinner at a local farmhouse. This will be another chance to meet the locals and share their knowledge and passion for food and wine. You will also enjoy a wine tasting at the organic farmhouse we have selected for your cooking class.
After you make your own fresh pasta and prepare your home made dinner, you will enjoy our creations paired with local wines…
Return back to the accommodation.

Move towards the Alta Langa area, where you will visit Pistone’s organic cheese farm and meet the cheese maker in person. Here we will enjoy a light lunch and taste the sublime Langan sheep tuma paired with good wine and other specialties of the area. We will learn more about the cheese maker’s passion and work… After this authentic and unique experience, you will transfer towards the Laboratorio di Resistenza Dolciaria, to see how local hazelnuts are used to create wonderful cakes and sweets. You will have of course the chance to taste some products before returning back to your accommodation. (Breakfast & Lunch included)

Enjoy a half-day panoramic tour of the Barbaresco wine zone. The Piedmontese DOCG zone of Barbaresco is responsible for producing some of Italy’s finest wines. It occupies the same region and uses the same grape (Nebbiolo) as Barolo but is a third of the size and his soils are lighter, both in color and weight, and more calcareous. Here you will have the chance to visit the local winery and taste Barbaresco from some of its most prestigious crus. Rest of the day at leisure at your accommodation, simply relax, enjoy the spa and get ready for a farewell dinner at the Castello di Grinzane restaurant. (Breakfast & Dinner included)
